Mary Billyou

Mary Billyou is a New York-based filmmaker. In addition to her independent work, she has collaborated with prominent performance artists of the New York scene, extending their work’s life through documentation. Her independent work has been noted in publications including Artforum, Artnet, Octopus Journal, and The New York Times. It has screened internationally at venues including: Antimatter, Ambulante Itinerant Film Festival, CROSSROADS Film Festival, Film Mutations, Images Festival, The New Museum, Spectacle Theater, and White Box Gallery. She is the recipient of awards from The New York State Council for the Arts, The Jerome Foundation and The Black Maria Film Festival. Billyou received her MFA in Film, Video, and New Media from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and attended The Whitney Independent Study Program.
