About

Launched in 2024 by Video Data Bank at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, VDB Streaming offers access to our vast collections of video art and experimental moving image work to institutions around the world. The streaming platform offers access to individual titles, curated compilations and subscriptions for large portions of the VDB's collections. VDB Streaming uses single sign-on (SSO) technology to integrate the platform with institutional credentials for seamless campus access. This platform is intended for educational streaming service only.

Founded at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 1976 at the inception of the media arts movement, Video Data Bank (VDB) is a leading resource in the United States for video by and about contemporary artists. The Video Data Bank is committed to fostering awareness and scholarship of the history and contemporary practice of video and media art, to serving the artists represented in the VDB collection, to providing access to the collection, and to ensuring the future of the collection for generations to come.  VDB is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Illinois Arts Council
